Exciting times need creative solutions
The main field of activity of the DKMS is the registration of stem cell donors - with the aim of giving blood cancer patients worldwide a second chance at life with a stem cell transplant. To raise awareness and to generate young donors, the DKMS usually holds lectures at schools. Due to the pandemic, this usual way was no longer possible. To keep in touch with the students we were asked to create a digital biology lesson about stem cell donation and blood cancer. With pleasure!
In cooperation with Gallafilz, we developed four chapters that were illustrated and animated in line with CI. On four scrollytelling pages, with embedded videos and interactive graphics, students can learn about the topic. Each chapter concludes with a quiz - a playful way to test the information gained.
By means of illustrations and animations triggered by actions, the teaching content is presented in an unusual and interesting way for a young audience.
Chapter 3 + 4
Chapter 3 explains how to become a stem cell donor, what the DKMS does, how a stem cell donation works.
Chapter 4 explains in summary how chemotherapy works and why it is important that as many people as possible are registered.
